Have high end sound card focusrite saffire 24 bit 9600. All other sound
devices disabled. I have 6 or 7 audio and video players/editors
including sonar, cooledit 2000, studio 10, etc. etc.

Every sound "thing" I have works just fine EXCEPT WMP. It doesn't pop an
error code... just says "Having trouble" and stops. Clicking "For more"
takes me to web site telling me to fix my sound card which, as I said,
works just fine.

I've become used to using wmp as the system sound device. rather not
switch to one of the others.

any suggestions anyone?

I'm having a similar problem
Realtek HD Audio card
Media player will play MP3s OK but any mpg video has no sound.
The files will play on Divx player, Gom player, VLC player and even Windows
media center but not on media player.
not getting any error message it just has no sound.
Anyone any ideas ?

Thanks

I have uninstalled it and now windows media player seems to be playing all
files OK :)

If you have that installed as well John it may be worth uninstalling it to
see if it fixes yours as well
