Hi,

About 2 or more years ago, I downloaded AntiX 16.2 (ISO file)
from the Lenux or Antix web site. I downloaded the file from that
site directly, NOT a "mirror" site.

Now, I want to download Antix 17.3 (my friend uses this version)
to instal on one of my laptops, but it seems that I no longer can download
the ISO file "direct". I am presented with a list of "mirror" locations,
which makes me unsure I will be downloading a SAFE version.

BTW, I am aware that AntiX is up to 19, but I prefer 17.3, my friend
uses.

Where is a SAFE site I can download AntiX?

Thank You in advance, John

Many linux distros restrict access to the main download site to the mirrors,
so that's the only place others can download them from.

It's safe to download antix from any of the mirrors, as long as you also download
the .sig file and check the pgp signature to ensure the iso file has been tampered
with. That should be done even if downloading from the main site, to ensure the
download server has not been hacked and the iso tampered with.

Usually, the master site will publish a checksum that you can use to
verify that the download is genuine.

UPDATE:

I downloaded antiX 17.4.1 ISO file from and used
the checksum to verify it's integrity.
