I had the same issue, but my insert key wasn't working because of the Region of the keyboard. When I changed that, the insert key worked just fine.

Thank you! This has been driving me mad but turning off the number lock andpressing 0 worked. I no longer feel the need to put my fist through my screen :)

Thank you so much.. Rather than the super cool google kids telling people to buy a new keyboard, I appreciate you giving the solution to a very annoing flaw with google chrome.

I hit the insert key and I think I fixed it but I am not sure what I was typing and correcting in the first place. It worked here and on tumblr so far.

I'm genuinely struggling while trying to send a serious message to a suicidal person. Any tips would be appreciated. I'm new at replying to others and if you don't reply I understand but please give me advice.
Have a lovely day!!!

Here's what I found works for me - turn OFF the number lock on the 9-key pad (side number keypad on your keyboard) and push the "0" key (mine has "ins" on the 0 key). Once you do that, the cursor should start blinking again to show you are out of the overwrite mode and then you can put your number lock back on and use the 9-key pad as usual. Mine always turns on and off when I don't realize that I have accidently turned off the number lock and then I try to type a number.

Took a tip from someone in the post trail below and CLOSED (X) my GMail tab on my Chrome Browser, then when I started GMail in a new tab, INSERT was working. I did not try pressing the Insert button again.
